It's a complicated thing, crediting where these patterns came from. They were created by fine artist Shay Spaniola, a native of Detroit. They're from Bunglo, the textile house and home decor brand she founded in Austin in 2013. They're inspired by her extensive travels to exotic locales around the globe, always with her sketch book and watercolors in hand.
With all of that in mind we proudly introduce our newest collaboration, the Bunglo x Wrappily Collection. These six new patterns are effortlessly chic—elegant enough for a summer wedding and cozy enough for a best friend's birthday.

Drawing from her paintings, sketches and photos, Shay weaves a world of wonder and beauty into her textile patterns—a world that she's seen first hand (over 44 countries and counting!) For Bunglo, the magic happens when she manipulates her watercolors into a new digital landscape. Elements of her original work—hand drawn lines, brush strokes, feathery watercolored edges—all peek through in the repeating pattern giving her fabrics that familiar sense of the human touch.
Creating for Bunglo, Shay balances her wanderlust with a focus on the comfort of home. The up-and-coming textile house infuses their signature style onto throw pillows, chair cushions, shower curtains, and soon, bedding. This summer alone, Bunglo is releasing exclusive lines with retail giants Bloomingdales, West Elm, and Neiman Marcus. A prolific artist with an open, experimental approach, Shay's rapidly building Bunglo into, quite literally, a household name.

In collaborating with Wrappily, Bunglo made it's first entry into gift wrap, proving the patterns translate seamlessly from fabric to paper (there's a pun in there somewhere.) For us, these three new sheets are like something we'd daydream while napping in the summer sun. Indeed, infusing the often staid world of gift wrap patterns with the lively work of independent artists and innovative brands is a dream, one of our biggest callings in creating Wrappily.
(Coming off of our spring collection with Jana Lam, one may accuse us of having a thing for textile designers. We wouldn't deny it.)

As it often is when new friends attract, it turns out we share common values; in this case, a passion for doing right by the environment. This June, bunglo.co announced a new Grow Initiative, promising to donate the planting of one tree in our national parks with every purchase off their website. We love their green heart!
"We are so excited to be working with Wrappily. They have a great eye for design and curation, but more importantly Wrappily shares many of the same values that we believe in at bunglo: being environmentally conscious, innovative and unique," says Shay.
We'll toast to that! Happy Wrapping!
