What can we say? We love a crowd. Tying our first community-curated design collection to our Indiegogo crowd funding campaign seemed like a natural fit. As a benefit to supporting our campaign, all backers were given exclusive voting rights in selecting the three patterns of our first design collection of the year.
Since much of our support is centered in Hawai‘i, we decided to honor the islands with a design theme. We asked graphic artists native to Hawai‘i to create patterns inspired by the popular phrase "Lucky We Live Hawai‘i." They got to work and sent in these submissions (click on each for a closer look.) We love the varying influences reflected here—cultural textiles, aloha prints, native flora, and dash of island kitsch.
It's been our pleasure getting to meet and work with some great local talent. Mahalo nui loa (our very BIG thanks!) to Andrew Mau of Mau-House, Joelle Ihilani Birano of SoPupuka, Lehua Chong of Hour of Nine, and Nicole Ferrara of Nico-Made. If you like their work, have a suggestion, or just want to say aloha, please leave a comment below.
Now the tough part—choosing. Our campaign backers have been given a secret link and will select, by popular vote, the three favorites to send to press later this month. We are so curious, which will they chose?
